Noticeable Spring/Summer 2013 shoe trends:
This reflective technique was the first trend I noticed. Designers have used it on both snakeskin and patent leather. It’s also seen in Dior and Pierre Hardy’s collections (not pictured).
Stella McCartney seems to be one step ahead & if you can’t wait until spring, she designed a faux-leather iridescent pump available at Bergdorf Goodman.
Mixed Media Madness
There are several obvious examples of this mixed media trend and I chose designs featuring 3 or more different materials. The styles below are colorful and show the designers’ playful side.
For me, the combination of different textures & colors is a hit-or-miss. Christian Louboutin uses mixed media wildly throughout his collection.
I love embroidered details, they give a fun, special touch. Barbara Bui and Balmain have several styles completely embroidered whereas Rupert Sanderson & Isa Tapia feature parts of the shoe embroidered with tropical birds.
Looking through Style.com’s Accessories Index I’ve spotted several orangey tones. Then I saw nectarine listed on the Pantone Spring 2013 Fashion Color Report which has also migrated to footwear. Nectarine has a warm coral touch and is also a skin flattering tone.
